Systemic racism and discrimination are common in health care, including children’s pain management.
We are recruiting a Post-Doctoral Fellow who has an interest in health equity and children’s pain.
Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, you would be based in the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research at the IWK Health Centre, with opportunities for collaboration with Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP), a national knowledge mobilization network (based at Dalhousie University, also in Halifax) whose mission is to improve children’s pain management by mobilizing evidence-based solutions through coordination and collaboration.
You would be co-supervised by Dr. Christine Chambers and Dr. Kathryn Birnie. Dr. Chambers is the Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Children’s Pain, Professor at Dalhousie University, with her research lab based in the the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research at the IWK Health Centre , as well as Scientific Director of SKIP. Dr. Birnie is an Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary, PI of the Partnering for Pain research lab, and Associate Scientific Director of SKIP.
Position details would be determined in collaboration and discussion with interested individuals.
You must have obtained a PhD from a recognized university within the past 5 years. Doctoral degree requirements must be complete prior to the fellowship start date. Start date is flexible but preferred by March 1, 2023. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in related areas.
